Mariners' Memorial Service
Presentation of iron ore cargo & bell-ringing ceremony

DESCRIPTION: All swimmers who participated in the Edmund Fitzgerald Memorial Swim, and their guests, are invited to attend the memorial service held at the Mariners' Church of Detroit the day after the swim finishes. In the memorial service, the four swimmers who finished the swim at the Detroit Yacht Club earn the honor of presenting the iron ore carried from Lake Superior to receiving dignitaries, and the first 29 swimmers who register for the memorial service, will get to ring the church bell for each of the 29 crew members aboard the Edmund Fitzgerald.

All Edmund Fitzgerald Memorial Swim participants, their guests, and the general public are invited to attend the Mariners' Church Memorial Service for FREE. The church has a capacity of approximately 350. There will be overflow seating and standing room in the church courtyard with audio visual.

The event will attempt to negotiate a discounted room block for swimmers, their guests, and volunteers at the hotel listed. ​
